چکیده

We use a controlled laboratory experiment to study the causal impact of income de-creases within time period on redistribution decisions at end that period, in an environment where we keep fixed sum incomes over period. First, investigate effect negative trend (intra-personal decrease), which means decreasing compared one’s recent past. Second, relative another person (inter-personal decrease). If intra-personal or inter-personal decreases create dissatisfaction for individual, may become more selfish obtain compensation. formalize both effects multi-period model augmenting standard equality aversion. Overall, conditional exhibiting sufficiently-strong social preferences, find individuals indeed behave selfishly when they experience in-comes. While many studies examine inequality decisions, delve into history behind isolate changes.

Taxing Top Ceo Incomes

We use a firm-CEO assignment framework to model the market for CEO effective labor. In the model’s equilibrium more talented CEOs match with and supply more effort to larger firms. Taxation of CEO incomes affects the equilibrium pricing of CEO effective labor and, hence, spills over and affects firm profits. Absent the ability to tax profits or a direct concern for firm owners, a standard presc...

Queen monogamy is ancestral among bees, ants, and wasps (Order Hymenoptera), and the close relatedness that it generates within colonies is considered key for the evolution of eusociality in these lineages. Paradoxically, queens of several eusocial species are extremely promiscuous, a derived behavior that decreases relatedness among workers and fitness gained from rearing siblings but benefits...
